TCC Jazz Festival

The Tulsa Community College Performing Arts Division and the Music Department are pleased to announce the Second Annual TCC jazz festival on Thursday, April 1^st. This festival will run from 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. and participation will be limited to 14 bands.

Our judges/clinicians for this festival will be: James Rocillo, professional trumpet player and music professor at Riverside Community College, CA; Eric Willie, professional percussionist and music professor from Tennessee Tech University, TN; Don Bailey, Director of Jazz Studies from University of Arkansas, Fort Smith; and finally, Dr. Tommy Poole, professional saxophonist and music professor from Northeastern State University. Dr. Poole will be taking notes during your performance and will clinic the band until the other adjudicators get on stage.

2010 OKJE/OBA All-Star Jazz Band

The 2009 auditions for the OKJE/OBA All-Star Jazz Band will be held on April 28th and 29th, 2009 at Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond Oklahoma. These dates coincide with the OSSAA State Jazz Contest, but it is NOT necessary that your group be participating for students to be eligible to audition. The only prerequisite for a student’s eligibility is that the student’s director must be an active member of OKJE.

These are the scores from the 2009 OSSAA State Jazz Contest. The contest took place at Oklahoma Christian University in Edmond on April 28th and 29th. Many thanks to those who sent these scores and rankings in from both days.
